Description

Kia Ora (Hello) is about feelings. The child in the story goes around his family and friends asking “Kia ora. Kei te pēhea koe?” (Hello. How are you?) The people give different responses about how they are feeling. The catchy tune, gorgeous photographs and repetitive sentence structures make learning te reo easy and fun for children and adults. This book is part of the award winning series of Te Reo Singalong books. Each book contains a singalong CD, English translation, information section, guitar chords and list of 10 activity ideas.

Author description

Sharon Holt lives in the Waikato region of New Zealand. She worked as a teacher and journalist before remembering her childhood dream of becoming a children's author. Since that wake up call, her children's books have been published by many trade and educational publishers. After starting to learn te reo Maori in 2002, Sharon got the idea for Te Reo Singalong books. She was working as a relief teacher in kindergartens and primary schools at the time, and realised that most teachers in mainstream education lack confidence to use and teach the level of te reo that is expected of them as part of the NZ curriculum. She designed Te Reo Singalong books to make it easy and fun to teach and learn more sentence structures in te reo.
