Sue Nelson: "Yesterday I was able to remind our tamariki about caring for our natural resources using the "Me tiaki, he taonga" phrase from He aha tenei? As I was talking about using gentle hands with the camellia flowers one of my colleagues started singing "Titiro mai, he aha tenei? straight from the book. Then one child found a slug and we reinforced "Me tiaki, he taonga" There is so much interest in these natural resources in our environment and the tamariki can now identify the taonga in English and te reo."
